I have made the first draft for my ancillary product, after previous practice. I started with a screenshot of a still from one of the shots we got at Banbury Gateway shopping centre as I feel it fitted the genre well.
Once I had decided on the photo I wanted, I highlighted the person in the photo and made the figure of the person more bright than the rest of the photo and did this by editing the brightness. I chose to do this because I believe that it highlighted it as more of a focal image. As you can see in the photo below, I adjusted various things in order to get it to the right amount of brightness.
After this, I used various typographies and fonts such as 'American typewriter' and put them in various titles around the figure in the centre of the focal image. I believe these titles are bold enough to be eye catching yet subtle enough to not draw attention away from the rest of the focal image. I included the fact that this is a social documentary, and the title, which is 'pocket money'.
After this, I put some credits onto the bottom of the poster, as this tends to fit in with conventions. I included the names of the producers, distributors, and who was involved with the making of the sound and other aspects of the documentary. I included this because I believe that it adds a feel of professionalism to the poster.
In order to make the ancillary product seem to be more of a documentary based advertisement, I also input some typography which specifies some information about the film itself- it reveals what is within the documentary, and who made it. After researching into the sorts of information given away in the advertisement of a documentary, I found it would be effective to input an explanation as to what is included within the documentary.
Finally, to finish the poster, I added the names of who stars in the documentary in the top of the poster, as this would catch the eye of the target audience, and maybe interest them. I will now do audience feedback to see what my target audience would think of the poster, what is good and what could be improved.
